"Who says the Chihuahua cannot compete with the Great Dane?” asks Jami M. Miller, owner of JEM Tech Group.
In 1986, James Edward Miller decided it was time to take a risk, make his dream come true and form JEM Computers, Inc. He began doing his business by sub-leasing a 300 square foot office from a printing company located in Royal Oak, Michigan. JEM's main focus was to sell back-up media and printer ribbons for Fortune 1000 companies.
In three short years, JEM's business was booming. A company that started with two employees and two product lines now had more than tripled. The business was now a solid company. Jim knew he achieved his dream of owning a successful small business.
For many years to follow, JEM Computers, Inc. grew; not only financially, but in its customer base and product line. To this day there are very few computer related products that JEM cannot obtain. In October 2000, Jim's daughter Jami joined the team and focused on learning all she could about the business and how it thrived. Jim retired four years ago and left the day to day operation of the business he built to Jami.
In Recent Years
In the last ten years, JEM has put themselves back on the map. The company has tripled in size, from employees to annual sales, added an office in Illinois and still offers the customer that personal touch that only a family owned business can.
Just recently, JEM Computers, Inc. changed their name to JEM Tech Group. Many customers have known us as JEM Computers in Michigan for the past 25 years. When a potential customer meets JEM for the first time, they think JEM sells computers. JEM doesn't sell computers, we specialize in Data Center Infrastructure products and services. When deciding on the new name for JEM, Jami wanted to keep the JEM (James Edward Miller) in the name. With help from her staff, they came up with JEM Tech Group.
